I think I did a post about Derico sometime last year. He is truly an amazing guy and a really wonderful drummer too! I saw him two years ago at Drum Daze in Columbus Ohio and I don't think anyone was sitting down after the first two minutes into his performance. His utilization of space and dynamics are really incredible! He plays with the kind of power that Dennis has but in my opinion with much more control. He also does not use a double pedal. All of his double pedal patterns are played with a single pedal. I asked him why he does'nt use a double pedal? His reply was, that until he has learned and accomplished all that he wants with a single pedal that there really is no need for him to bother with a double pedal.WHEW!!!!!!!! Now that is real dedication to the craft. "Keep It In The Pocket". PT.

Derico is a huge Dennis fan, you can hear it in his playing for sure. I haven't heard a lot of his playing but what I have heard has been impressive.

He has a chat on his website every Wednesday. I've chatted with him a few times, nice guy!

Is it just me, or does anyone else have trouble w the vid clips on that VF page?! After loading the 1st initial clip, I have trouble getting the visual on all subsequent ones [img]confused.gif[/img] ...

Saw Derico on kit w The Wooten Bros [Vic, Reggie, & Joe; no Roy/Future Man] in concert last yr ['03]...solid player for sure, & attentive to his musical surroundings...nice. Altho he has no shortage of chops, he did not play very 'chopsy' at all that night...can't say the same for Vic or Reg, tho [img]wink.gif[/img] ...their hands should be registered as "lethal weapons with [over]use of deadly force"... [img]tongue.gif[/img] [img]cool.gif[/img]
